Reference

Terminology

Use these names consistently across the website, WordPress plugin, Assistant, demos, documentation, and release notes.

Open for Agents

The WordPress control layer for the machine-readable web: one canonical catalog that discovers, reviews, validates, publishes, and executes approved site capabilities.

Usage note: Do not shorten the product name to Open Agents or call the plugin the Assistant.

Open for Agents Assistant

The optional visitor-facing client that consumes the same reviewed capabilities published by Open for Agents.

Usage note: Connector and gateway are implementation terms, not the public product name.

WebMCP

An emerging, pre-standard browser API for exposing page tools to compatible AI clients. The Open for Agents runtime does not depend on native WebMCP support.

Usage note: Do not imply universal browser support or guaranteed future compatibility.

Agentic Resource Discovery (ARD)

A draft discovery specification that helps clients find agentic resources before those resources are used through their native protocols. The live Open for Agents demo publishes a currently conformant AI Catalog.

Usage note: Do not call ARD an execution runtime, promise registry indexing, or confuse ARD v0.9 Draft with AI Catalog specVersion 1.0.

Open Knowledge Format (OKF)

An adjacent portable Markdown knowledge format that Open for Agents is monitoring.

Usage note: Do not claim that Open for Agents currently detects, publishes, validates, or executes OKF.

Tool

A reviewed capability an agent can discover or request on the active site, with its inputs and safety policy.

Usage note: Use action type only for the plugin classification, not as a synonym in visitor copy.

Publication tier

The operator-selected policy that controls which reviewed capabilities and metadata appear in an output.

Usage note: Use the exact values public_minimal, public_standard, and private_full in technical contexts.

Storefront Assistant

The flagship live WooCommerce demonstration of search, comparison, approval-gated cart changes, and Undo.

Usage note: Do not call it Open for Agents Store or the WordPress demo.

Build-a-Buddy

The lightweight creative demo showing one prompt becoming a sequence of constrained page actions.

Usage note: Use the full hyphenated name in headings and navigation.

Cursed Kitchen

The stateful creative demo showing layered page controls and shareable output.

Usage note: Keep it as a demo name, not the product-level positioning.
