Built by a publisher who needed a better answer

I'm Matt. I've been a web publisher and webmaster for more than 20 years. I can see browsing becoming less manual as people begin sending personal assistants to find information, compare options, and use websites on their behalf.

Why I started Open for Agents

Machines are already a substantial part of website traffic. Some are familiar crawlers; others repeatedly request broken links, 404s, and variations of the same page without behaving anything like a human visitor. Blocking every machine is not realistic, but letting agents guess their way around a site is not a good answer either.

WebMCP made the missing interface clear to me: websites can expose explicit tools instead of forcing agents to infer everything from pages and buttons. Open for Agents gives the owner a place to find the tools a site already has, review them, publish only what is appropriate, and check the result from the public web. I started with WordPress because it is the world I know best and the place where I could test the idea against real content, forms, shops, caching, redirects, and plugin behaviour.

How the work gets done

I am a digital publisher and longtime webmaster, not a standards body or a large software company. I build and maintain the project hands-on, then check the public claims against real releases, live demos, and the behaviour visitors can actually see.
